let us give govt a helping hand 2

Update : Ok, I made another huge bloopers AGAIN. The calculation below is wrong, so was the first one. The (2xTV) is there as they take 6 months traffic in TV. And toll amounts collected (TA) is for the relevant year. This is what happens when writing with a tired mind. For accountability and transparency sake, am leaving the original post intact. So, boo as you wish :).

I made a huge mistake in explaining the formula earlier.

CA = ∑ [AT x (2 x TV)] – TA

CA – the amount of compensation payable in respect of the relevant Concession Year;
AT – the Agreed Toll, as should have applied for the relevant Concession Year for the particular class of vehicle;
TV – the actual traffic volume for the particular class of vehicle for the last six months of the relevant Concession Year; and
TA – the aggregate Toll amounts collected by the Concession Company for the relevant Concession Year.

CA = ∑ [AT x (2 x TV)] – TA

CA = [AT x (2 x TV)] – TA

CA =[AT x (2 x TV)] – (CTxTV) : Toll Amounts = Collected Toll x Traffic Volumes

CA =TV [(AT x 2) - CT]

What the above ‘derivation’ (using the word loosely) actually means? Let us insert some numbers into it to see the effects. And let us use real numbers this time around.

In the year 2007; AT = 2.10, CT = 1.60, TV = irrelevant in this discussion.

CA = TV [(2.10x2)-1.60]

CA = TV (4.20-1.60)

CA = TV (2.60)

So for every RM1.60 the road user is paying. Government is dishing out RM2.60 to Litrak.

If this ain’t daylight robbery. I don’t know what-else to call it.
