HINDRAF Rally

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn’t a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.
Martin Niemöller, First They Came…

Below is a notice I took from a forum. I have been searching high and low of the time of the rally as I was planning to go.

Due to my prior engagement outside of KL. I can not make it back to KL by 9am on Sunday of 25th November 2007.

I do not profess the faith of Hindu nor am I an Indian ethnically. But I am a concerned Malaysian and I want to stand by by fellow Malaysians in their struggle. Remember, the struggle for HINDRAF is not just for Malaysians who profess the faith of Hindu and ethnically Indian. It is an important and landmark struggle to break the bondage bare down upon all Malaysians by non other than Barisan Nasional, led by hooligans UMNO.

The lawsuit is not about the money. It is about truth which needs to be aired.

The lawsuit is not just for Hindu Indians. It is for all Malaysians.

Let us stand united together against the evil regime which goes by the name Barisan Nasional.

The notice:

Dear Malaysian Indians,

A class action on behalf of Malaysian Indians has filed at The Royal Courts of Justice London on 30th August 2007 to sue the UK Government for bringing in Indians as indentured laborers into Malaya & exploiting them for 150 years & thereafter failing to protect the minority Indians rights in The Federal constitution when independence was granted, Hence making Malaysian Indians a permanently colonialized society until today.

A petition with 100,000 signatures to be presented to her Royal Highness the Queen of England to appoint her Majesty’s Queen Counsels to represent the poor, underclass, oppressed and suppressed Malaysian Indians would be presented at the British High Commission as follow:
