Hindraf 31: Attempted murder charge dropped

On Sunday, 16th December 2007, Uncle Kit called on AG to drop the attempted murder charge on HINDRAF 31.

Today, Monday 17th December 2007, AG finally drop the charge on HINDRAF 3.

The venture into charging the Hindraf 31 (some are by standers I believe) was a total waste of resources for both the government and accused. Let us try to peel some of this resources involved :

  • Monetary terms, AG’s man hours paid by the rakyat
  • Monetary terms, AG’s chamber man hours paid by the rakyat
  • Monetary terms, Police man hours paid by the rakyat
  • Monetary terms, Judges man hours paid by the rakyat
  • Monetary terms, Officers of the court man hours paid by the rakyat
  • Monetary terms, Holding accused in prison paid by the rakyat
  • Monetary terms, Transportation for AG, Police, accused paid by the rakyat
  • Monetary terms, Lost of income by accused
  • Monetary terms, Lost of income by family of accused
  • Monetary terms, Cost incurred traveling, coordinating, contacting, etc by family of accused
  • Time, lost of usage of court for REAL crime cases
  • Time, lost of time of the accused
  • Time, lost of time by AG to bring REAL criminals to court
  • Environmental, all the carbon released from court usage of electricity, transportation by all parties, papers, etc.

The list is not exhaustive, there are so many more losses which cannot be quantified.

All this, is because the government of the day feels insecure and therefore needed to create an atmosphere of fear. All this is to perpetuate the evil regime of Barisan Nasional currently lead by Abdullah Badawi.

One may asked, why was the charge drop then. It backfired, like many other things which BN does.

The court of law in its rotten state have become such a shameful state. It is such a clear cut abuse of the process of court. Any clear minded, fair and just judge would have thrown out the case.
